… is the connection really slow these days?

  1. it is, isnt it.. wonder whats wrong eh

  2. eSpeed2 has been like a snail hitch-hiking on a slug. You’re not alone.

  3. wishful thinking to expect something faster with 90 odd bucks, eh?

  4. I just got my espeed 1 bill yesterday, 700++ bucks. -.-” Well, we didn’t receive the bill for over 7 months, probably because the Telbur are busy migrating stuffs and bills from JTB to Telbru.

And mom received a call yesterday too, and asking whether we’re using espeed 1 or 2, and when mom told them espeed 1, they suggested mom to file a migrate from espeed 1 to 2 as they’re going to take over espeed 1, sort of like merging I guess.

I don’t know how’s espeed 2 now, but hmmm, last year, I switch from espeed 1 to 2(and paid an extra 150 bucks for the installation) because I was so pissed at the customer services of the government section, they have no customer care service at all, duh. The cable of my simpang failed for 1 months, and they don’t even inform you or what? I tried to connect to the web for a bloody 3weeks(it’s my holiday) and when I went to their office to complain, guess what I saw?

“Simpang xxx-xx-xxx Kampong Rimba – Cable Rosak” -.-” It’s on the whiteboard inside their reception desk(most probably it’s for their own internal reference). I terminated my espeed 2, and turn to the much better espeed 1(despite they have lower bandwith of 2-4mb rather than 8mb of espeed 2 at that time).

My espeed 1 is better, although slower(yes, and I wonder why) but the customer services is much better. The technician came my house twice, and leave me with his office number(rather than the usual espeed so-called “Custom Care line”(the 3 digit phone number? I sort of forgot it as I know they never work).

By the way, anyone ever tried submit a contact form to them thru their website? I tried erm, twice I think, and the respond I receive = 0.

    Delete my comment! It’s a “hate-comment”, haha.

Please, if they’re not making things better in espeed 2 now(compared to last year), then… sigh…

And hmm, the girl who called my mom told her that they’re planning(she said quite sure) for another ugrade within this year/early next year, and she mentioned something about 600++ but mom forgot what’s the 600++ about, can be kbps or anything else. =)

And erm, I think a leap in connection speed could be expected when the shared connection cabel of ASEAN to US directly(the current submarine cabels we had, which is rented from other countries, and not directly linked to the US main server. The cabel went to japan first I think, then only US, so slower) are completed. =)

Let’s just hope. Well, nothing can be done, that’s the result of having only one ISP in Brunei, duh.

  5. E-Speed? No lah, I think they should change their name to E-Turtle!

And, why is broadband so expensive in Brunei? =(

  6. @ ingsiang

i can’t bring myself to deleting your comment, dude. it’s way too interesting. i was even entertaining the thought of posting it up as an entry, with credit to you, of course ;)

    @ nonnie

my friend in hong kong is using the cheapest option, which is at B$40, and it’s so much faster than whatever we are getting here.

  7. You know, when it comes to computer + Internet, I simply has too much to say. =D Sure, post it if you want, hehe.

In US, cheapest broadband = 20 bucks and below! =D

Let’s talk about something closer to us = Singapore. They have broadband few times cheaper than us, and almost 30 times(last time, now 15 I guess) faster than us!

    Brunei ah….

Thank God I’m in Down Under. Huhuhuhu. I’m currently getting 1.36GBS. =D

  8. hey! don’t rub it in… :P

if the connection got any slower, we would have to check into a rehab to kick our internet addiction. i wonder if the psychiatric ward could accommodate so many of us though…

  1. [...] I don’t know what they’re up to but eSpeed2’s been problematic for the past few weeks. Bandwidth issues aren’t limited to me but today’s the only time when half the sites I load, most of them very well known, just time out. Proxify loads up the Yahoo! home page fine but the free service doesn’t allow me to login to my email account. [...]

  2. [...] By the way, if you’re not from Brunei, and you wonder how bad is our ISP, refers to these posts from several bloggers: ChungSun, Lizzie, BruneiResources and LSM. Not all of them is complaining about e-slow, some are just doing it indirectly, LoL. [...]
